Winnipeg police said an officer was injured and several service cars damaged during an arrest Monday.

It started with reports of a stolen truck in East St. Paul overnight between July 8 and July 9.

That vehicle was later spotted on Sutherland Avenue where members of the Drug Enforcement Unit noted the driver was known to police.

The Tactical Support Unit was called in but when it approached the stolen truck on Main Street police said the driver rammed the cruiser, then started to drive down the sidewalk.  Another police unit moved in but officers said it was also rammed head-on.

One officer was transported to hospital in stable condition but has since been released.

Police said four people were in the stolen truck, one men and three women.  All were arrested and charged.

They also found two sawed-off shotguns, a replica handgun, and 35 grams of methamphetamine in their search.
