Train collides with school bus in Carlyle, Sask.

CARLYLE, Sask. – Fire, ambulance and RCMP were called to a collision between a train and a school bus in the community of Carlyle on Tuesday.

Mounties say an eastbound train collided with a southbound school bus at the railway crossing on 4th Street East.

The train struck the front passenger side of the bus and spun it off the tracks before the locomotive came to a stop.

One of the seven youth passengers received minor injuries.

The 67-year-old male bus driver was examined by EMS and released.

The remaining youth are being further examined by paramedics as a precautionary measure.

RCMP say no charges have been laid as the investigation continues.

Carlyle is approximately 415 km southeast of Saskatoon.
