Crews manage to save deaf puppy who fell into hole in Alabama

Rescue crews have been able to retrieve a 7-week-old deaf puppy that fell down a 15-meter crevice behind a house in Alabama.

WATCH: The foster owner of a deaf seven-week-old puppy stuck in a 50-foot hole in Huntsville, Alabama Friday said she feels “helpless” and says it “kills me” the puppy is down there.

Volunteers erupted in cheers as the pup – named Toffee – was pulled out of the narrow hole around midnight Saturday with the help of a snare and some food. The dog fell into the inches-wide space around 5 p.m. Thursday.

“Y’all this is a miracle,” Karen Smith, the puppy’s foster mother, told reporters.

Huntsville television stations drew thousands of followers as they live-streamed the recovery efforts. Volunteers worked around the clock to save the puppy, who is also deaf.

A net with food was initially lowered, but the puppy didn’t get in.
