Police seek witnesses after 10-year-old Maple Ridge boy reportedly shot

Police are investigating how a 10-year-old Maple Ridge boy ended up in hospital with a gunshot wound.

According to Ridge Meadows RCMP, police were called to the 24000-block of 110th Avenue around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday on the boy had been shot.

They found the boy with a “firearms injury” and secured the scene.

The boy was taken to hospital, but his condition remains unknown.

“Due to privacy we do not provide comment on a victim’s personal medical condition,” said Ridge Meadows RCMP spokesperson Clint Van Blanken.

Police are calling it an “isolated incident” and said there is no threat to public safety.

Police are now looking for any witnesses who may have seen or heard anything in the area at the time.
