Halifax Regional Police say on May 14 at around 11:20 a.m., an officer tried to stop a vehicle for driving through a stop sign on Bayview Road and Woodbank Terrace.
Police say the driver didn’t pull over, and a short time later, the vehicle was found crashed into a home in the first block of Clayton Park Drive.
There were no injuries, and the driver was seen fleeing on foot.
A canine unit was unable to track down the suspect.
However, in a news release on Thursday afternoon, police say Shontez Oshay Dechamp faces charges in connection with the hit-and-run at the Clayton Park house.
Dechamp is facing charges including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, property damage, mischief and breach of probation.
Police say Dechamp should not be approached or confronted. If he is seen, police ask the public to contact police.
