On Wednesday, police shared photos of two men that they said “have information that can help with the investigation.”

“Homicide investigators have been working relentlessly on this file since they took it, and now they have two images of individuals they want to release to the public in an attempt to identify them,” Constable Jay Murray said. “We believe these two people do have information that can help with this investigation so it is very crucial and imperative.”

One photo shows a man in what appears to be a convenience store. The other is a man on a bike.

Cst. Murray pointed to the clothing of the man in the second picture, who is wearing black track pants with a red stripe and white sandals with a blue stripe.

“We’re really hoping somebody is going to look at these photos and just have that gut instinct.”

Cst. Murray confirmed the photos were taken within the city but could not disclose any other details.

Balaquit left home for work the night of June 4, and hasn’t been seen by family or friends since.

It is believed the father and husband had been been working at 380 Keewatin Street between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. that night.

The investigation has lead police as far as Arborg, about 115 kilometers north of Winnipeg, where police searched fields and ditches earlier this month.

“There have been advancements [to the investigation],” Cst. Murray said, “some of which we have disclosed and some of which we haven’t. It just goes to show that these investigations never really come to a standstill.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS.
