Calgarians saw outdoor events cancelled Saturday as heavy rain hit the city.
A slow-moving system first entered Alberta Friday night with multiple lightning strikes and localized flooding in some areas.
Rain continued overnight into Saturday and through most of the day, with accumulations in some parts of the city measuring 38 milimetres, according the Environment Canada.
The official rainfall total for June 23 came in at 27 milimetres, beating the old record of 24.6 milimetres set in 1972.
June is typically the rainiest month of the year in Calgary, with an average of 93.9 milimetres.
As of June 23, 2018 the city has had 61.7 milimetres of rain.
The last time Calgary had a one-day rainfall total this significant was July 11, 2017 when over 40 milimetres fell.
This is coming after a drier-than-average May that saw just over half the precipitation it normally would.
On Saturday the Calgary Fire Department warned residents to stay off the Bow and Elbow Rivers due to the speed at which the rivers were moving.
The forecast for the start of the week looks dry, with a chance of more showers starting Thursday.
