The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has determined that no criminal charges were warranted in relation to a robbery at a London Pharmacy a little more than a year ago.
London police were called to a report of a robbery at the Shopper’s Drug Mart at the corner of Oxford Street and Hyde Park Road just before midnight on Saturday, May 12, 2017.
“A short time later, a police officer located a vehicle thought to be connected to the robbery,” said the SIU in a news release.
“Not long after that, a vehicle flipped and crashed on the front lawn of a residence on Hyde Park Road, north of Fanshawe Park Road.”
The SIU said that two occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the rollover crash.
One occupant was found unconscious inside the vehicle, while a second occupant fled the scene on foot. Police with a K-9 Unit attended the area and arrested the suspect a short distance from the crash site.
Initial reports said that police used a spike belt on the roadway in their pursuit of the suspects, but on Tuesday, June 21, the SIU determined that any London Police Service officers who responded to the incident were not at fault in the injuries sustained by a 36-year-old following the collision and his subsequent arrest.
