Fire rips through house fire on Parkhill Road West in Peterborough

Firefighters in Peterborough battle a house fire on Parkhill Road West on Monday afternoon – Jun 11, 2018

No one was injured after a fire ripped through a house on Parkhill Road West in Peterborough on Monday afternoon.

The fire at 53 Parkhill Rd. W. broke out around just before 3 p.m.

Peterborough firefighters were quickly on scene to battle the blaze which had flames on the front of the two storey house.

“Upon arrival, there was smoke and flame coming out from the rear of the home and from a second floor deck,” said platoon chief Don Broersma.

He said three occupants and their pets got out safely.

Firefighters initially focused their attention to the exterior rear side of the house as a second crew advanced a hoseline to the second floor and continued with an interior attack.

“The fire was brought under control quickly,” siad Don Broersma.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Division of Peterborough Fire Services.

The Peterborough City County Disaster Trust Fund was notified and has arranged to provide shelter for all the three occupants, Broersma said.

Damage is pegged at $80,000.
