Prince Albert police say a woman who was waiting to be sentenced for a large cocaine bust in 2016 was arrested last week on new drug charges.
Kelsey Bear, 22, was previously charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking in relation to an August 2016 bust in Prince Albert where officers seized 12 kilograms of cocaine.
Bear was arrested on April 13 when the Prince Albert Integrated Street Enforcement Team made a traffic stop at the intersection of 11th Street East and 4th Avenue East just after 8:30 p.m. CT.
She was searched and found to have 14.2 grams of cocaine on her person. Officers located two hydromorphine pills, two grams of marijuana, a digital scale, two cell phones, plastic baggies, and cash in the vehicle.
Bear now faces a new charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. She was also driving without a valid driver’s licence, leading police to impound the SUV.
She is also facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained from proceeds of crime, and breach of undertaking not to possess or consume drugs or be in possession of mobile devices.
The Saskatoon woman appeared Monday in Prince Albert provincial court.
