The slow start to the season has also had an effect on local businesses, with some suggesting the cooler than normal temperatures are hurting their bottom line.
Shooter’s Family Golf Centre and Restaurant said it was behind schedule opening its driving range last week and has yet to open the course to the public.
Owner Guido Cerasani said having a warm spring is more important to his business than having a long summer.
“Weather is everything for our business, especially in the spring because that’s when we have the pent up demand,” he said. “People have cabin fever and want to get outside.”
St Mary’s Nursery & Garden Centre told Global News that customers aren’t buying plants as the ground is not yet ready for planting.
“Not real conducive to getting plants in the ground or getting out in your yard and doing even doing spring cleanup, it’s still a little too cold for that,” co-owner Ken Land said on Monday.

At least we were spared the winter weather that blanketed areas south of the border over the weekend.
