Pair arrested after stolen vehicle found outside Cobourg hospital

Two men were arrested after a vehicle reported stolen was located in front of Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the white Jeep Compass was reported stolen earlier that day from a Ganraska Road residence in Campbellcroft, just north of Port Hope.

Northumberland County OPP spotted the vehicle around 2 p.m. near  DePalma Drive in Cobourg.

The jeep continued and stopped directly outside the entrance to the hospital’s emergency department. Two men got out and then fled on foot as police arrived.

OPP apprehended one of the men near a creek approximately 300 metres east of Burnham Street.

Another suspect was apprehended and requested he be taken to the hospital emergency department after admitting to ingesting illicit drug, police said.

The suspects’ names and charges have yet to be released.
