After months of hard work members of Skate Kingston get to showcase their talents – Apr 2, 2018

Skate Kingston will celebrate its 10th anniversary in grand style on Saturday night at Kingston’s Invista Centre.

The local figure skating club will hold it’s year end ice show for everyone to enjoy.

“It’s a blast from the past,” said president Krista Richardson.”Were trying to re-create ice show numbers from the last 10 years. Coaches are using similar music and similar costumes but they’ve upgraded the choreography.”

“We have more than 200 skaters in our show this year,” Richardson added. “It’s just a fun night to showcase what the kids have learned this year, and they’re so excited to perform in front of family and friends.”

It will be a special night for graduating skater Donna Gao, who’s been with the club since it was first formed in 2008.

“I performed when I was little, and 10 years later I’m doing it for a last time” said the 17-year old Gao, who plans to attend the University of Toronto in September. “I’ve loved skating with this club. It’s where I learned to work hard and have fun. There’s been a lot of amazing skaters here and I’ve learned from them all. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.”

Special guest skaters include Evelyn Walsh of London, Ont. and Trennt Michaud of Strathroy, Ont. Walsh and Michaud finished in fifth place in the pairs’ competition at the World Junior Figure Skating championships in Taipei City.

Saturday’s performance, April 7, will start at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
