QUEBEC – Justice Minister Bertrand St-Arnaud announced Monday that the Quebec cabinet has agreed to the 18-month extension requested by Justice France Charbonneau to complete her public inquiry into construction corruption in Quebec and its implications on political financing.
“We have to get to the bottom of this,” St-Arnaud told reporters.
Charbonneau was given an Oct. 20, 2013 deadline to probe corruption at the provincial and municipal levels but so far the bulk of her investigations have been related to the city of Montreal.
She now will deliver her report by April 2015.
