EDMONTON – Two men are facing fraud-related charges in connection with an alleged cell phone scam that has cost an international mobile phone provider an estimated $1 million.
On Saturday afternoon, Edmonton police arrested two suspects in the parking lot of a southside mall, after being called there on a “fraud-in-progress” complaint.
The two men are alleged to have used a fictitious corporate account to acquire the cell phones at outlets across Western Canada. They then reportedly sold the phones online.
Cody Tyler Stott, 35, of no fixed address, and Mohammed Ifran Vohra, 29, of Surrey, B.C., are both charged with fraud and uttering forged documents.
