Ford Nation is going provincial. Doug Ford won the Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership race over the weekend, edging out Christine Elliott. What does a Ford victory mean in Kingston? Gary Bennett has a vested interest — he’s the Tory candidate for Kingston and The Islands.
“He’s going to make it very interesting and if anything, he’s probably going to create more unpredictability in terms of where this election is going to end up.”

Bennett didn’t endorse any of the leadership candidates.
Kingston’s Liberal MPP Sophie Kiwala says even with a new leader, the Tories are a party in disarray and she says voters should beware of the road that Ford wants to travel.
“If they end up getting in, there are going to be some very regressive polices in place.”
The party leaders and the local candidates will trade more barbs as the June 7 election draws closer.
