One man is in custody thanks to a member of Winnipeg’s K-9 unit.
The suspect tried to rob a 7-Eleven Isabel Street around 8:30 Tuesday night.
He grabbed two drinks and tried to run, but was grabbed by another customer.
Then another man stabbed the guy trying to hold onto the first suspect, and both fled.
Const. Tammy Skrabek said the 38-year-old victim was taken to hospital while police searched for the two men.
“The victim suffered one stab wound, but it was fairly serious, so he’s remaining in hospital,” Skrabek said.
The victim may need surgery.
Police have charged Ermiyas Isaac Dangerfield, 20, from Winnipeg with:
- Robbery
- Aggravated Assault
- Theft Under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking X2
He was detained in custody.
An employee at the convenience store told police that Dangerfield had also robbed the store on Feb. 22. Skrabek confirmed the man has a history with police for similar crimes, going back to 2016.
