Manitoba banning smoking at beaches, playgrounds in provincial parks

The Manitoba government is banning smoking at beaches and playgrounds in provincial parks.

The ban will start in 2014 with a one-year grace period on fines.

After that, it will be very expensive to light up on the beach — $299.

The province says it is the first jurisdiction in Canada to move ahead with this type of ban.
