“Home again, home again, jiggety-jig! Home is where the heart is and the heart is feeling good!” the filmmaker wrote on social media.
“It’s actually getting more blood flow and oxygen than it has in a long time. So I am ALERT, to say the least! I just wanted to thank you all for the kind words you took the time to write to me about what my work has meant to you,” the 47-year-old actor wrote.
He continued, “In the last two days, I’ve read some breathtaking sentiments that have profoundly touched me. It honestly means the world under normal circumstances, but after Sunday night? Everything means so much more, obviously.”
Smith also wrote that he made some changes to his lifestyle in the wake of his heart attack, writing, “Seriously- THANK you, everybody … from Vegetarian Kev, Day 2! #KevinSmith #WidowMakerBreaker.”
As previously reported, Smith said he had a “massive” heart attack after performing at a Los Angeles comedy show Sunday night.
The Clerks director shared a photo of himself in the hospital.
“After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack,” Smith tweeted. “The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka ‘the Widow-Maker’). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!”
Smith said that after completing the first of two Kevin Smith Live! shows at the Alex Theatre, he threw up, then “started sweating buckets and my chest felt heavy.”
Smith said that he’s likely facing some lifestyle changes following the heart attack, writing, “Maybe it’s time to go Vegan.”
