More Americans visiting Winnipeg this year

The Fargo Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau has partnered up with several restaurants, hotels and malls to bring Canadians to their city, as they have noticed a decline in Canadians coming across the border.

But it raises the question — what have we been doing here in Winnipeg to promote our city to Americans?

The President of Travel Manitoba, Colin Ferguson told 680 CJOB they have been running TV ads in North Dakota to promote what Winnipeg has to offer.

“This past year we ran television adds in outdoor markets like Fargo, Grand Forks and Moorhead” Ferguson said.

“We’re focusing on the things that we believe that a U.S. customer would come for.”

Ferguson said Travel Manitoba has advertised the Journey to Churchill exhibit at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, as well as the new outlet mall and various professional sports teams that call our city home.
