Person injured after break and enter in north Edmonton

There was a large police presence in north Edmonton’s Killarney neighbourhood early Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., police were called to a report of a break and enter at a home in the area of 88 Street near 128 Avenue.

A 49-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of his injuries “remained unclear,” police said.

It was reported to police that someone in the residence had been shot, but officers said Wednesday afternoon they do not believe a gun was fired.

The property was blocked off with police tape and officers could be seen inspecting the sidewalk and ground between two homes.

Police are searching for a suspect but do not believe there is any threat to public safety.
