It was a hard fought 6-5 win for the Kelowna Rockets against the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday at Prospera Place.
The Kelowna Rockets scored midway through the first period with a goal from Dillon Dube.
Dube found the net again at the end of the frame to give the Rockets a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Conner Bruggen-Cate extended Kelowna’s lead to three on a power play in the second period.
Kamloops made it on the board in the second period, then scored again to cut Kelowna’s lead to 3-2.
A power play goal for Kamloops evened the game 3-3, and another put the Blazers in the lead 4-3 at the end of the second period.
Leif Mattson evened things up for the Rockets late in the third.
The Blazers answered back to regain a 5-4 lead.
Carsen Twarynski tied the game 5-5 on another power play goal.
Mattson scored his second of the night with 2:13 left to play, and Kelowna held on for a 6-5 victory.
The Rockets play their next three games on the road, starting in Prince George to take on the Cougars on Tuesday.
