Manitoba dog rescued after being shot multiple times with pellet gun

Even after all she’s been through, a Manitoba dog still loves people.

Bea was rescued last week from a First Nations community north of Winnipeg after being shot multiple times with a pellet gun.

Mark Tipton from Tir na Nog Animal Rescue said she has eight pellets lodged in her body.

“This was egregious to me,” he said. “They had to do this with malice.”

X-rays show at least five pellets in her face and one near her eye.

“It would be like for us looking through a milk carton,” Tipton said.

Dr. Sav Virdi from the Plessis Veterinary Hospital said it’s too early to tell if she will need surgery.

“It’s too early to say this is diagnosis, this is treatment. We’re in the preliminary stage,” he said. “Right now there’s no eyesight yet and there’s no pellet in the eye, it’s not touching the globe.”

The pet rescue is covering Bea’s medical bills but is hopeful someone will step forward to give her a loving and safe home.

“It’s going to take special people and I know there are a lot of people that can take care of this little girl,” Tipton said.
