Owner of dog and puppies abandoned in northern Manitoba arrested

The man wanted in connection with an act of animal cruelty in Lynn Lake, Man. has been arrested.

Police said 46-year-old John Gerald Glen Linklater, from Black Sturgeon Falls First Nation, turned him self in Feb. 21 at the RCMP detachment in Leaf Rapids.

RCMP found the mother dog and her five puppies locked up in a house in the community and that the owner had been gone for about three weeks. Police said two of the puppies were found dead and one died later.

Police said the dogs had no access to food or water and all contracted a skin infection.

Linklater is facing charges for causing unnecessary suffering and injury to animals.
