Health Canada is recalling 47,350 KitchenAid electric kettles across the country after reports of a burn injury.
The recall applies to the KitchenAid 1.7 L Electric Kettles, that come with a metal body and plastic handle. They are sold in several colours.

These are the model numbers affected, which can be found under the kettle: KEK1722SX, KEK1722ER, KEK1722OB, KEK1722WH, KEK1722QG, RKEK1722SX, RKEK1722ER, RKEK1722OB, RKEK1722WH.
The products, sold by Whirlpool Corp., have a faulty handle that can loosen and fall off the body. There have been 19 reported cases of this occurring in Canada since Jan. 23, and one known case resulting in burns.

In the U.S., another 40,200 kettles are being recalled after three reports of minor burn injuries. More than 1,600 are also being recalled in Mexico.

The kettles were sold in Canada between September 2013 and February 2018.
Consumers who have these products at home are being advised to stop using them immediately, and contact Whirlpool for a free replacement, Health Canada explains on its website.
