Man killed in Coquitlam shooting, burning car found nearby

People living in a quiet neighbourhood in Coquitlam have been left in shock after a deadly shooting Friday night. Investigators now say they do believe this was a targeted hit. Jill Bennett reports – Feb 18, 2018

UPDATE: IHIT has identified the victim in Friday’s shooting as 45-year-old Donald Kelly of Burnaby. IHIT said there is no evidence to link Mr. Kelly’s death to other recent homicides or reported acts of violence.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is looking into a shooting in Coquitlam that left one man dead.

RCMP arrived at Sylvan Place and Riverview Crescent just after 10 p.m. Friday following reports of shots fired.

Officers found a man with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. He was transported to hospital where he later died.

A 2018 grey Chrysler 300 was found on fire nearby at Mariner Way and Dartmoor Drive.

IHIT has been called in to investigate. It said it believes the shooting was targeted.
