Winnipeg man charged in stabbing death on Furby Street

Winnipeg police have a 55-year-old man in custody in connection with a fatal stabbing Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded to the 500 block of Furby Street at around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 14.

A victim found dead at the scene was later identified as 45-year-old Joseph Francois.

Police learned that the victim had been socializing at his home with a friend when a fight broke out.

General patrol officers picked up a suspect later that day near Ellice Avenue at Hargrave Street.

Joseph Allan Ballantyne from Winnipeg has been charged with manslaughter and failure to comply with a probation order.
