Saskatchewan artist William Perehudoff passes away

SASKATOON – A well known and respected Saskatchewan artist has passed away.

William Perehudoff, 94, died Tuesday in Saskatoon.

Perehudoff, who was from Langham, was known for his abstract art, displayed across the country and featured at the National Gallery of Canada.

Murals he created in 1950 at the former Intercontinental Packers plant were slated to be destroyed when the building was demolished in 2009.

Those were saved and will find a new home when the Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan opens.

Perehudoff was a member of the Order of Canada and was awarded the Saskatchewan Order of Merit.
