Female pedestrian in her 70s struck and killed in North Etobicoke

Toronto police said the woman was walking across the street near Finch Avenue West and Islington Avenue when she was hit Friday morning. She later died in hospital – Feb 2, 2018

A female pedestrian in her 70s was killed after being struck by a vehicle in North Etobicoke.

The incident happened around 9:45 a.m. Friday near Finch Avenue West and Islington Avenue.

Toronto police said the woman was walking across the street when she was hit by a van.

The victim was taken to hospital in serious condition but later succumbed to her injuries.

Police said the vehicle remained at the scene.

There’s no word yet on what led to the crash and the investigation is ongoing.

Police said the woman’s death is the ninth pedestrian fatality in Toronto so far this year.
