TORONTO – Durham police revealed Friday that a 17-year-old boy from Whitby was injured during a targeted shooting Thursday afternoon that sent four others to hospital.
The shooting occurred just before 1 p.m. at a highrise apartment building at 101 White Oaks Court in Whitby.
In total, four people were shot and one was injured by shrapnel while in the building’s elevator.

A 19-year-old man, who suffered serious injuries during the shooting, has undergone surgery but remains in critical condition.
Three others, a 19-year-old man from Scarborough, a 19-year-old man from Toronto and a 17-year-old male also suffered serious injuries during the shooting.
As police began their investigation, Durham police Sgt. Nancy Van Rooy said did not give specifics about the shooting but said “the entire building is considered the scene.”
Police are searching for three to four male suspects but have not released any descriptive characteristics of the suspects.
