Mounties said nine people were in the car, including eight children under the age of 12. All of the occupants, except the one-year-old, were taken to Bassano Hospital with minor injuries.

Police said a preliminary investigation suggests not everyone in the car was wearing a seat belt.

RCMP are reminding motorists that everyone should be “properly restrained in seat belts and child safety seats” when travelling.

The crash remains under investigation.

Police said alcohol and drugs are not considered factors.
