The holiday season may be approaching, but the Saskatchewan government says it’s not too soon for people to start thinking about the 2018 seasonal camping season.

Applications for a seasonal camping site are available starting Jan. 3, 2018, with a deadline of Feb. 1, 2018 for applying to the lottery draw.

The draw for the sites will take place on Feb. 5, 2018 and those who are successful in securing a spot will be contacted by phone or email.

The seasonal camping program allows people to secure a campsite from mid-May until the end of August. Some parks extend seasonal camping into September.

Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said seasonal camping is one way for people to enjoy one of the 19 provincial parks in Saskatchewan.

“For many people, visiting our provincial parks is a valued summer tradition that contributes to our great quality of life,” Makowsky said in a release.

“Booking a site for the full season is a popular choice that allows for the best camping deal around and an entire summer spent making lifelong memories.”

Seasonal booking rates are offered at a discount from regular nightly camping rates.

Officials said details for nightly camping reservations will be released in early January.
