Montreal boy, 12, arrested in death of 16-year-old brother hit with new charges

MONTREAL – A 12-year-old Montreal-area boy accused of manslaughter in his brother’s death is facing five new unrelated charges, including armed robbery.

He appeared in youth court on Friday for a date-setting in the case involving the death of his 16-year-old sibling.

The teenager was shot to death on Jan. 21 at the family home in Dorval, a suburb in western Montreal.

His brother has since been in custody, although he was allowed to attend his sibling’s funeral last week.

The accused also faces a charge of illegal possession of a loaded, prohibited weapon related to his brother’s death.

He returns to court Feb. 27.
