A 26-year-old woman was arrested overnight after crashing into a police cruiser in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough.
The collision happened at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday on St-Denis Street near Mont-Royal Avenue, while officers were on a call to try and locate a suspect wanted in connection with an assault.
Montreal police (SPVM) spokesperson Benoit Boiselle said the cruiser was heading north on St-Denis when it U-turned so that officers could attempt to identify an individual.
Boiselle said it was during the U-turn that the woman, also heading north on Saint-Denis, crashed into the driver-side of the police car.

Several witnesses told police the woman was using a cell phone at the time of the crash.
No one was injured in the collision despite significant damage to the vehicles involved.
The woman was released on promise to appear in court at a later date.
Boiselle said she is facing a DUI charge, but added it was too soon in the investigation to say whether she could face additional charges.
