Edmonton Eskimos’ Matt O’Donnell nominated for Jake Gaudaur award

Edmonton Eskimo offensive lineman Matt O’Donnell has been selected as the Eskimos nominee for the Jake Gaudaur Veteran’s award. The award is given annually to a player who best demonstrates the attributes of Canada’s veterans in their community.

O’Donnell helped to lead this year’s PINK campaign as he spent a brief amount of time away from the team this season to be at the side of his mother who was battling breast cancer.

He helped to raise money for women’s cancer research through the Eskimos annual women’s dinner in the spring which helps to support the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. O’Donnell also spends time with members of the Eskimos Kids Club after home games and is a coach at the annual Eskimos amateur football camp.

O’Donnell is the Eskimos nominee for Most Oustanding Offensive Lineman and was named a Western Division All-Star.

The winner of the Jake Gaudaur award will be announced on Nov. 23 during the CFL Shaw Awards ceremony as part of Grey Cup week in Ottawa.
