Laval driver runs over body on Marcel Villeneuve Avenue

Laval police received a call from a man who ran over a body on Marcel-Villeneuve Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The 29-year-old male driver was on his way home from work when he hit the body.

Laval police ruled out alcohol and speed as factors, but say the stretch of road is unlit at night and the driver was unable to avoid contact when he saw the body at the last minute.

Police were unable to identify the body at the time of the report, the cause of death was also being investigated.

“We are unsure of the cause of death, if the body was deceased before or because of the collision,” said Laval police spokesperson Évelyne Boudreau.

Marcel Villeneuve was closed through Thursday morning as investigations took place.
