NSBA executive director Keith Moen made the comment at city hall during Monday’s transportation committee meeting.

The bike lanes along 23rd Street and 4th Avenue were installed in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

According to data collected by the City of Saskatoon, the portion between 20th Street and 21st Street along 4th Avenue has averaged 310 cyclists per day in 2017.

The NSBA undertook a study of its own, installing two cameras in the same locations.

“We just did an overall bike count per lane, per day, and a combined total of northbound and southbound and the average was less than 100 vehicles per day,” Moen said.

The agenda item will be discussed at the next city council meeting when councillors will be asked to decide how to move forward with the pilot project.
