SASKATOON – Members of the public had a chance to view and voice their opinions on newly released designs for the North Downtown area in Saskatoon.
The city is looking for input from the public and on Saturday residents from across the community gathered at the Saskatoon Farmer’s Market to weigh in.
“This is really the first opportunity that we’ve had to talk to the public and really get some feedback from the people of Saskatoon,” said Joyce Drohan with the design team.

The plan is expected to set the tone for a new neighbourhood that will be ecologically sustainable, while being a vibrant, liveable space for all.
“Of course SIAST has a big role to play… They’re a great partner and I think on any major development if you got an educational institution it’s just golden because of the wonderful vibrancy students bring to the community,” said Drohan.
Another goal is to create a downtown environment that is more walker friendly.
“It’s a long-term build out, we’re still trying to determine with the city what that means. We’ve done a very similar master plan in Edmonton and that’s a 25 to 30 year build out so this could be similar,” said Drohan.
