In the WHL, teams can only have three 20-year-old players. For the Edmonton Oil Kings, it was an easy decision to keep forward Colton Kehler.
The B.C. native brings a special energy day in and day out. You can see it in his goal celebrations, one time diving and swimming through teammates.
But what most people don’t get to see is his positive energy at practice and enthusiasm when a teammate scores a goal while he’s on the bench; jumping up and down handing out hugs and high fives.
“That brotherly bond that we’ve built this year, it’s sincere,” Kehler said. “It’s just exciting to see your teammates doing well. Just something that I like to bring to the table.”
“Colton’s really embraced being a 20-year-old on this team,” Oil Kings head coach Steve Hamilton said. “He’s grown leaps and bounds as a player, as a person. He’s a real leader for us, real positive guy on our bench.”
