The union represents about 800 faculty, veterinarians and librarians.

“The UGFA negotiating team is pleased to announce that, after eleven hours of mediation, we have reached a tentative agreement with management,” said chief negotiator Ed Carter and UGFA president Bill Cormack in a statement posted to their website. “Without the support of the membership, expressed through a strong strike vote, we feel certain that we would not have reached a fair agreement.

Details of the tentative contract are confidential pending a ratification vote by union members and the University’s board of governors.

The UGFA is holding a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the terms of the agreement.
