The Belvedere to close its doors on Calgary’s Stephen Avenue

A long-time fixture on Stephen Avenue will soon serve its last meal, thanks in part to a faltering economy.

The owner of The Belvedere told Global News Thursday there are many reasons for the closure of the high-end restaurant, including the rising minimum wage, rising liquor taxes and upcoming changes to business policies and taxes.

“It’s really death by a thousand cuts,” Clayton Morgan said, adding the restaurant was just getting hit by “one thing after another.”
