SQ arson squad investigating fire at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu pet supply store

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) are investigating two suspicious fires that took place in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Wednesday.

The first was at a residence on Alain Street in the Saint-Athanase-Sud district around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

There were no injuries in the fire that destroyed the house.

The second took place after 11 p.m. in a pet supply store on Highway 104 in the Iberville district of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Flames destroyed the commercial building, there were no injuries as the building was empty at the time of the fire.

“The two fires might be linked, but it’s too early to say at this time,” said SQ spokesperson Joyce Kemp.

“Our detectives will be investigating both scenes [Thursday].”
