In 2009: Liberal Moira Stillwell defeated NDP candidate Helesia Luke by over 4000 votes, 59-35%.
History & Geography: Created for the 1991 election, this riding is bordered by 33rd Avenue to the north, the Fraser River to the south, Main and Fraser streets to the east and Granville and Angus to the west. A descendent of the old Vancouver South riding, this area has only elected an NDP candidate once, in 1972. The NDP has support in the Marpole area, but the Liberals have traditionally done very well in the area just south of Shaughnessy.

Candidates
Liberals-Moira Stillwell: The Minister of Social Development, Stillwell was first elected in 2009 and has also served as minister of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development. Before entering politics, Stillwell was a radiologist and nuclear medicine physician. She ran for the for BC Liberal leadership in 2011, but dropped out shortly before the election.
NDP-George Chow: A former city politician, Chow was a Vancouver councillor from 2005 to 2011 with Vision Vancouver. Prior to politics, he was a senior engineer for BC Hydro. The past president of the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver, Chow ran for the NDP’s nomination in Vancouver-Fraserview, but lost to Gabriel Yiu.
Greens-Regan-Heng Zhang: A UBC student, Zhang is the president of the UBC Green Party. He is currently pursuing a PhD in medical science, and graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Science.
Conservatives-Gujinder Bains: A courier in the Lower Mainland for 16 years, Bains was president of Security Programs with Royal Canadian Security.
Espavo Sozo-Platinum Party: Sozo is the leader of the Platinum Party, which wants all government employees sign an oath and deposit a security. They are running two candidates this election.
