One person airlifted to Toronto after serious crash on Highway 28

A head-on collision on Highway 28 east of Peterborough has sent two people to hospital.

The accident occurred Monday evening just north of Highway 7, when many cottagers were heading home after the Thanksgiving weekend.

The female driver, a 58-year-old Peterborough resident of one of the vehicles was airlifted to St Michael’s Hospital, while the male driver, a 61-year-old from Burnt River, Ont was treated at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for minor injuries and released.

The accident took place about half a kilometer south of Old Norwood Road.

Highway 28 remained closed at Highway 7 and Old Norwood Road for a couple hours while the investigation into the cause of the accident was investigated.
