OPP seize $2.5 million in marijuana, guns, property from Kawartha Lakes grow-op

Eleven people are facing drug charges after OPP in the City of Kawartha Lakes raided a grow operation.

On October 4, 2017 officers provincial police including an Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a property on Simcoe Street, in the northern part of the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Officers seized more than 2,000 marijuana plants, more than 80 pounds of processed marijuana bud, three vehicles, two all-terrain vehicles, two shotguns and a rifle. The value of the items seized is $2.5 million, police said.

The following were arrested and charged with producing marijuana and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking:

  • Jia Wei CAO, 26 years of age of Markham
  • Weibiao LIANG, 32 years of age of Beaverton
  • Ruijian LIU, 30 years of age of Markham
  • Jin Biao LUO, 30 years of age of Aurora
  • Junsong LUO, 20 years of age of Scarborough
  • Shu Yan LUO, 46 years of age of Markham
  • Xin Ling LUO, 29 years of age of Stouffville
  • Yan Jun LUO, 31 years of age of Scarborough
  • Yan Ming LUO, 37 years of age of Markham
  • Hai Quan ZHANG, 38 years of age of Markham
  • Boqiang ZHOU, 29 years of age of Toronto

They are scheduled to appear in court in Lindsay, Ont. on November 2, 2017.
