A 33-year-old man, on the run from provincial police for more than a week, may have been spotted in Hanover, Ont., police there said Monday.

According to authorities, an off-duty Hanover police officer observed a suspicious male carrying a gas can around 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The male was believed to have been Kyle Moore of no fixed address who is currently the subject of an arrest warrant following incidents spanning Huron, Perth, and Lambton counties.

Officers attended the area, locating the male near 8th Street and 12th Avenue, police said. The suspect fled on foot into a residential area through backyards, and police, with the assistance of OPP and West Grey police, secured a perimeter.

Police said they were unable to locate the male following a search by members from West Region OPP’s Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team.

Nearby, officers located a Ford F-250 truck that had been reported stolen by Lambton OPP, police said.

The following morning, around 7:30 a.m., Hanover police said they received a report of a stolen Ford Escape from a residence in the 400-block of 9th Street. The vehicle was later found in Desboro by Grey County OPP, police said.

The suspect is described as wearing a 3/4-length camouflage coat with an attached camouflage hoodie, a red ball cap, and dark coloured pants.

Provincial police have been on the lookout for Moore since Sept. 25 following an early morning incident at a business in Zurich. Police said a man entered a business on Main Street around 3:30 a.m. and attempted to steal an ATV but fled in a white Ford pickup after being spotted by the business owner.

Less than three hours later, a stolen Ford F-450 pickup truck was pulled over near Bluevale in Huron County by an officer with Wingham police. During the stop, a male suspect allegedly assaulted the officer and fled in their patrol cruiser. The suspect travelled west on Highway 86 into Listowel, crashed the vehicle into a tree on Barber Avenue North, and fled barefoot, police said.

OPP have said they believe the same suspect was involved in both incidents.
