London police are investigating a homicide after a 43-year-old man was killed in the city’s east end Monday night.
Officers say they responded to a 911 call around 11:40 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they say they found a man who had been stabbed as well as a 47-year-old man suffering from non-life-threatening injuries as a result of an assault.
Raymond Beaver of London was pronounced dead in hospital after he was stabbed at 1 Lansdowne Ave.
Beaver, his uncle George Janes, and Connie Conway were the only ones in the home on the night of the incident.

“We had gone to bed around 10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Ray [told] us to lock the back door just in case somebody tried to break in because there was threats being made around 8 o’clock, and I basically [told him] not to respond back because you’ll make it worse. So we all went to sleep. Both George and myself were asleep on the couch, Ray was downstairs And I heard a light ‘ting’ and just as I heard the light ting I dozed off again and I heard this loud crashing. I jumped off the couch, and he jumped off the couch. He went down to check on his nephew who was already passed,” said Conway.
According to Janes, the intruders kicked down the door and immediately went downstairs to attack his nephew, Raymond, before turning on him.
“I just kept fighting them off by throwing things. The one guy managed to get in and hide around the corner. By the time I got my crowbar another guy was coming up the stairs. I had my crowbar, I went to go after him and I didn’t realize that guy was [hiding around the corner]. All of the sudden I got there and went to swing at him and then he hit me first and got me right in the head, and I went down on the ground. My initial [thought] was to get back up and chase him,” he said.
Conway says that’s when she ran for help.
“I got out, ran up [the street] for help. He [Janes] was just coming up the street, and he said ‘Ray’s dead. He’s dead.’ I said ‘What do you mean he’s dead?’ I go down with my girlfriend that was here and she calls 911 on her phone, and she says ‘I need police, I need them now, somebody’s been killed, somebody’s been seriously hurt.'”

Emergency crews responded to the scene and took Janes and Beaver to hospital.
“He [Janes] was rushed to the hospital, and I just immediately went into shock with everything that was going on because I was concerned about him,” said Conway.
Police say several people were spotted running from the scene, but no arrests have been made.
Officers say they believe this was a targeted incident, not a random attack, so there is no risk to public safety.
