Drivers were asked to avoid an intersection on Edmonton’s north side Thursday night after police said a collision occurred there involving one of their vehicles.

Shortly after 7 p.m., police issued a news release to say they had shut down the westbound lanes of 153 Avenue and the northbound lanes at 127 Street after a crash involving a police vehicle and another vehicle occurred at that intersection.

“Injuries appear to be minor to all involved,” police said.

They later said the police vehicle was an unmarked truck and that two other vehicles were involved in the crash: an SUV being driven by a female and a jeep driven by a male. They added the jeep “was sitting at the red light.”

Police did not say what led to the collision.
