Fort Macleod has a new mayor: Brent Feyter.
According to unofficial election results, Feyter won with 579 votes, beating Bill Kells, who got 553 votes.
Incumbent Mayor Rene Gendre was formally sanctioned by his council less than a year into the job and failed to win a lawsuit launched against the town and his fellow councillors. He finished in third place, with only 71 votes.
The town was also subjected to a review from Alberta Municipal Affairs.
Jim Monteith, David Orr, Gordon Wolstenholme, Kristi Edwards and Marco Van Huigenbos were elected to council.
