Winnipeg police make arrest in hit and run

Winnipeg police have made an arrest in a hit and run that happened on Sunday.

Emergency services responded to a report of an injured man at the intersection of Talbot Avenue and Panet Road just before 2 a.m. on Sunday. A 43-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he remains.

Central Traffic Unit Investigators found he was the victim of a hit and run incident and were searching for the vehicle.

Police said Shane David Strebley, 37, turned himself in Tuesday night and has been charged with driving carelessly, driving while disqualified and for failing to stop at a scene of an accident causing bodily harm.

The vehicle in question was described as a blue 2011 or newer model Dodge Grand Caravan, with clear damage on the passenger side of the front of it.

Police are expected to release more information about the incident later on Wednesday.
